Two weeks ago we posted about a unique way to stand out at your next home show. Why not place a toilet in your booth and fill it with jelly beans (post image below). Then, have a contest where homeowners can guess how many jelly beans are in the toilet. The prize could be anything you wanted. The purpose of the contest was to create a fun way to obtain leads as the homeowners entered their guesses along with their name and contact information.
Well, last week one company took the idea and ran with it. They placed a toilet in their booth and filled it with jelly beans. Then they had entry forms and pens ready for their contest: “How many jelly beans are in the toilet”.
Here’s the result from Toby Allison, owner of Allison’s Plumbing, Heating and AC:
“I got this great idea from PrintFast. We have been doing our local home show for over 10 years and we have never received this much attention at the show. What a great conversation starter, a toilet filled to the rim with 7,500 jelly beans! We had our participants guess the amount of jelly beans in the toilet. The closest to the actual amount won a new toilet with an included hour of labor. The contest was a hit with over 120 leads generated!” –Toby Allison
Home show marketing can be fun and a great method for lead generation. You just have to step outside the box of what is commonplace. Using your imagination you can create contests for nearly any home service trade. Just think about what is unusual and unexpected. Have fun!
